The Rising Together Pledge Page

In the spaces I host and hold, I believe Black Lives Matter. I believe the rights of LGBTQIA+ are human rights. I believe in the power and brilliance of modern medicine and the divine support of a Higher Power greater than myself.

As a white, cisgendered, able-bodied, queer female raised in a blue-collar, middle-class family, I recognize and accept the immense privileges I am granted in our society through the system of white supremacy. I am committed to using and spending my privilege to do what I can to promote and create an anti-racist society. My life + work is currently based out of Western Massachusetts on unceded Nipmuc Lands. I’m a fourth generation American whose ancestors were skilled laborers by way of Ireland on my father’s side and Ireland, Hungary, Poland on my mother’s.

PLEDGES

I have taken the Small Business Anti-Racism Pledge [link]. This commitment includes continually educating myself, calling out and naming white supremacy, and taking daily intentional action in the world around me while making sure a portion of my income is reinvested directly into the Black Community. I’ve included an accountability report below to track this work and keep the community apprised of my actions and commitments.

Being anti-racist also means being anti-capitalist and while this might seem antithetical to the whole enterprise of running a business and being a “business coach”, I believe that the only way to dismantle systems of oppression is to begin to challenge them and start the work of building a new way. I acknowledge the link between racism and capitalism. Therefore, I’ve also taken The Ethical Move Pledge [link], which is a first step to create a new marketing standard based on transparency, trust, and honesty - specifically in the online marketing space. I take this further in my own practice by offering all of my services with sliding scale pricing for accessible price points.

COMMITMENT TO IMPERFECT ACTION

To this end, I am learning. I will make mistakes. I am open to listening and receiving feedback to deepen my understanding of equity, inclusion, and social justice. I commit to actively working to do better and to continuously updating my offerings and language as necessary to support a more just and equitable world.

This page serves as a place for me to be transparent in my long-term commitment to an anti-racist lifestyle and business. As I continue my learning, this page will continue to grow and develop with updates and resources. This page will also serve as a space of accountability to share the ways in which Rising Together Coaching and myself are actively living our Commitments
